Paul Pogba breaks his silence on his future and hints at his next move as superstar prepares to make his return from his 18-month doping ban

Paul Pogba has broken his silence on his future and dropped a hint on his potential next move with his return to football rapidly approaching.

The midfielder will be permitted to play again in March 2025 after seeing his doping ban reduced to 18 months from the initial four-year punishment.

But Juventus confirmed they are in talks with his entourage and the expectation is that he will leave the club by mutual agreement, despite his deal running until 2026. 

Pogba played just twice for the Turin side last season due to his suspension and featured only ten times during the 2022-23 campaign, owing to his injury woes.

Marseille have been recently linked with a move and Patrice Evra has claimed he will contact the club’s sporting director Medhi Benatia to convince him to seal the deal.

‘He wants to play football, wherever it is, for example why not OM?’ Evra said. ‘I’m going to call Benatia and tell him that the door is open.’

Pogba has dismissed the comments from Evra but did not rule out making a switch.

‘I laugh because he’s Uncle Pat, he said it jokingly,’ he told L’Equipe. ‘I’m still under contract so it’s not credible. The possibility of coming to play in Ligue 1? 

‘I’m at a club, I’m just thinking about coming back and getting out of this situation. Of course, you never know what tomorrow will bring, so never say never.’

On his ban being reduced, Pogba added: ‘I was really happy. 

‘I hadn’t done anything, why would they give me four years? I’ll be able to go back to doing what I love the most. It’s like I’ve been given another chance. 

‘I’ve been given back something that had been taken away from me. It’s a new lease on life. March is tomorrow, it’ll come quickly. And it’s something I can’t wait to do.’

Pogba, who looked to be facing retirement after being hit with his original suspension, will be able to recommence training in January, it is understood.

The final judgement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed Pogba inadvertently took DHEA, a substance that boosts testosterone. 

DHEA is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list.

Crucially, however, the ruling stated the substance only has an effect on females.

Pogba’s appeal took place at the CAS headquarters in Switzerland at the end of August but he was only recently informed of the verdict.
