Huge US star and new fiancée of Taylor Swift’s ex visits Japanese restaurant in Sydney during surprise trip to Australia

The new fiancée of Taylor Swift’s ex Matt Healy is enjoying a surprise trip to Australia. 

Gabbriette Bechtel, 26, who has been romantically involved with Matt since last year, dined at a trendy Japanese restaurant Ito in Sydney on Thursday.

The glamorous model and influencer indulged in Shio kombu bread with garlic seaweed butter, Sashimi and Hiramasa kingfish, white ponzu, squash.

Gabbriette looked thrilled to be sampling one of Sydney’s finest dining spots while making the most of her time in Australia. 

The model captioned the post with some amusing words, ‘Geez, so good!’ 

Gabbriette has kept tight-lipped about why she is currently in Sydney, but as one of the world’s most in-demand models and influencers, it is possible she collaborating with a high-profile Australian brand.

She recently collaborated with cosmetics brand MAC Australia to release her own lip kit.

The US star looked effortlessly stylish as she dined, rocking a sleek designer black leather outfit.

Gab and Matt have been linked since September 2023, following Healy’s split from Taylor Swift that June, when they were spotted enjoying a steamy PDA in New York City.

Now an official couple, they have since made several public appearances together, including during Fashion Week and at his band The 1975s concerts.

Often known simply as Gabbriette, she was born in Orange County, California, in 1997 – making her eight years Matty’s junior.

Though she moved to Los Angeles with dreams of being a ballet dancer, Gabbriette fell into a modelling career after being cast in a Blood Orange music video. 

However, this was not plain sailing as she told Vogue in May 2023 that she spent large amounts of time as ‘an unpaid, hard-working model’.

Bechtel, 26, who has been romantically involved with Taylor Swift’s ex Healy since last year, dined at a trendy Japanese restaurant Ito in Sydney on Thursday.

She has since worked with brands like Diesel, Bottega Veneta and Marc Jacobs. 

This is not something she foresaw growing up, adding: ‘The majority of students at my high school were beautiful, strictly white blonde girls, and my sister and I were Hispanic. I was called some pretty awful things, I learned to laugh at it.’

Aside from her modelling pursuits, Gabbriette shares a taste for the stage with Matty having been the lead vocalist for punk rock band Nasty Cherry – a group hand-picked by British pop singer Charli XCX in 2018.
