Portsmouth stars hilariously get stuck in a lift after beating QPR and are told to ration water by senior player before finally being rescued

Portsmouth players were hilariously left stranded after getting stuck in a lift following their weekend Championship victory over QPR.

Pompey stars were looking to celebrate their comeback win at Loftus Road that was secured by Callum Lang scoring a second-half winner, only for chaos to later strike their post-match plans.

Three points keeps Portsmouth in the Championship’s relegation zone but could prove invaluable come the end of the season as John Mousinho’s side claimed their first win of the campaign.

However, calamity later ensued as a group of first-team stars found themselves stuck in a lift between floors that prompted them to start rationing water throughout the group.

A video posted on Instagram by defender Tom McIntyre shows the comical situation unfold as 10 Portsmouth stars attempt to find a way out with some shouting for help and others merely watching along.

The door to the lift had been partially opened to show their way out was blocked by a wall as full-back Jordan Williams tried to find a solution to the elevator malfunction while waiting for professional assistance to arrive.

Water was then passed around players with Lang fearing they could be trapped for hours and telling his team-mates: ‘Actually save the water just in case.’

McIntyre later posted the video when the group had been successfully rescued and hilariously mocked Lang’s reference to rationing water and also added: ‘Need to get stuck in the lift every week.’

Lang later saw the funny side of the situation by resharing the video and added: ‘Save that water lads,’ with a brain emoji.

Portsmouth will be hoping that is the only mishap as they now turn their attention to playing Cardiff on Tuesday evening with the two teams only split at the bottom of the table by goal difference.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth’s win over QPR leaves the Hoops in last place of the Championship standings with just one win from 10 matches this season.
