Stan drops mysterious new teaser for season 2 of Travis Fimmel’s crime series Black Snow

Travis Fimmel is set to return for the new season of Stan’s Original crime drama Black Snow.

And the streaming giant has announced that the acclaimed Australian series will drop on New Year’s Day.

A new teaser trailer promises plenty of intrigue as Fimmel’s character, dogged Queensland detective Cormack, digs into another tragic cold case.

In the new six part season 2, viewers will be taken into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a woman who has not been seen since her 21st birthday.

Meanwhile, Fimmel will undertake a personal journey – the search for his younger brother, who has not seen since they were children.

The creepy teaser begins with Cormack (Fimmel) standing alone in a forest appearing to see ‘visions’ of Zoe (played by Bad Education actress Jana McKinnon).

At one point Cormack can be plucking up a card announcing Zoe’s disappearance as it floats on the current of a river in the forest, teasing that the setting might hold a clue to the young woman’s disappearance.

Set in a fictional North Queensland South Sea Inlander community, the new season was filmed around the Glasshouse Mountains.

The cast includes Class of ’07 actress Megan Smart, Offspring’s Kat Stewart, Dan Spielman from the ABC’s The Newsreader.

Also featured in the cast are Alana Mansour from the SBS series Erotic Stories and Victoria Haralabidou from Stan’s hit series The Tourist.

The first season of Black Snow debuted on Stan in 2023.

Its plot centred on a fictional 30-year-old unsolved murder that rocked a North Queensland South Sea Islander community.

The whodunnit, which was produced in north Queensland, dealt with the slaying of a teenager, Isabel Baker, in 1995.

The killing rocked the small town of Ashford and devastated Isabel’s community.

No one was ever caught for the murder, but in 2020 a time capsule unearths a vital clue that puts Detective James Cormack (Fimmel) on the path to solving the crime.

Fimmel starred alongside Brooke Satchwell (Mr Inbetween), Alexander England (Alien: Covenant) and actor and comedian Rob Carlton.

The role of Detective Cormack will be a change of pace for Fimmel, a former Calvin Klein model who found fame on The History Channel series Vikings in 2013.

The creative team for Black Snow includes creator Lucas Taylor (Harrow), Rosemary Blight (The Invisible Man), and co-producers Lois Randall and Kaylene Butler.

Season 2 is again produced by Sydney-based company Goalpost Pictures and sees Sian Davies and Helena Brooks as directing the series.
