Aussie man reveals the truth about noughties icon Corey Worthington’s infamous Melbourne house party

An Australian man who attended Corey Worthington’s infamous 2008 Melbourne house party, has revealed the truth about what it was really like.

Party boy Corey became a global sensation at the age of 16 after throwing an out-of-control party at his parents’ house in Melbourne in 2008.

The pair of yellow sunglasses Corey wore at the time became his fashion trademark and the party made global headlines for the hijinks that went on.

However, Aussie partygoer Matt, 36, revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that the infamous party was in fact a huge letdown.

‘This party, they made it out to be wild. Truth was, there was teenagers at the front door, it was $5 to get in. Once you got in, it was like a tin of sardines,’ he began.

‘Everyone everywhere, but the house had the sh**tiest little speaker and it was locked.’

The upset caller said the event was falsely advertised as a ‘house party’, which he said was not true because guests were only allowed to mingle outside the premises.

‘He charged people to get in, and you didn’t even get into the house. It was in the yard,’ he claimed.

Matt added the party only picked up when upset guests decided to make their own entertainment by causing a ruckus in the street – in a move the police quickly put a stop to.

‘It was pretty lame. It only got interesting when it shut down, and when people were ripping out letterboxes and pushing cars and causing a ruckus,’ he said.

Corey sprang to national attention in 2008 when he threw the wild party at his parents home in suburban Melbourne when he was just 16 years old.

After publicising the event on Myspace, a reported 500 revellers turned up and the carnage that ensued attracted police helicopters and the dog squad to the property.

Two days later, a video was uploaded to YouTube of an interview Corey did with A Current Affair about the party and its aftermath.

‘Why don’t you take your glasses off so we can see you,’ interviewer Leila McKinnon asked of his yellow shades, to which Corey replied that he rarely took them off.

After finding fame with the raucous party in 2008, Corey starred on Big Brother Australia season eight later that year.

In 2018, he returned to reality television on the second season of Australian Ninja Warrior, debuting his new muscular physique.
