Oleksandr Usyk’s appearance at the launch press conference for his heavyweight rematch against Tyson Fury grabbed headlines but the Gypsy King has revealed a message hidden within his attire.

The boxers met in London on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the cycle that will culminate in a showdown on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk claimed victory via split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in May and the Ukrainian arrived in the capital dressed as the video game character Agent 47 from the series Hitman, in a clear nod to his confidence ahead of the rematch.

But Fury, who suffered the first defeat of his professional career against Usyk, also had a message hidden in his outfit for the event. The 36-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to hype up the bout and revealed in an image that his suit consisted of elaborate stitching made to look like middle fingers.

‘See you in the Kingdom Agent 47,’ he wrote on the social media platform. ‘Because you’re the one that’s going to get Hitman.

‘It’s a well known fact I end up knocking them down out in the rematch and make no mistake The Gypsy King will right that wrong. The press commitments are done and I head off to camp, laser focused and the eyes don’t lie. God Bless You All.’

In May, Usyk scored a knockdown in the ninth round after landing a barrage of punches that ultimately turned the contest in his favour, and is confident of getting his hand raised again.

Usyk kept his cards close to his chest on Wednesday night, but did attend the press conference in a black suit clutching a mystery briefcase.

He was asked what was in the briefcase, and eventually opened it before heading over to Fury with a photo in his hand.

It proved to be an image of Usyk landing a huge left hand on Fury in their first fight, and he managed to convince the Gypsy King to sign it, drawing laughs from the assembled media.

Reflecting on how he plans to get a different result in their rematch, Fury said: ‘I’m just looking forward to a fantastic fight. Oleksandr won the last fight fair and square. It was a very close fight, only a point in it. A little bit more focus, a little bit less complacency and I will be victorious.’
