Harry Kane has been blamed for colliding with Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner during Bayern Munich’s 4-0 victory on Wednesday night.
The visitors ran riot on the night thanks to a hat-trick from Jamal Musiala and a Leroy Sane strike, as Kane failed to add to his impressive nine-goal tally in the league.
The England captain did pick up an assist on the night and was hungry throughout for a goal which, unfortunately for him, never came.
In his search for a goal on the night, Kane collided with Mainz’s Zentner which resulted in the goalkeeper needing treatment on the pitch.
Speaking after the match, a furious Zentner insisted that the situation was avoidable and that Kane should have pulled out of the challenge.

Zentner was left needing treatment but was able to resume the match shortly afterwards
According to Bild, he said: ‘I think you can blame him. He sees relatively early on that he can’t get to the ball. He might as well just stay away.’
The incident occurred in the 15th minute as Kane lunged in to try and poke the ball into the net, ahead of the goalkeeper.
However, Zentner got there first and Kane was unable to halt his momentum, which lead to the England captain’s studs scraping the face of his opponent.
Luckily, after receiving treatment from Mainz’s staff, Zentner was able to continue.
Perhaps a small part of the 30-year-old wanted to come off as, shortly afterwards, the floodgates opened for Bayern.
After scoring the opening goal in the second minute of the game, Musiala doubled his tally for the night – via an assist from Kane – as he provided a neat header.
Leroy Sane then found a third for the visitors on the stroke of half-time as he rifled a close-range effort into the back of Zentner’s net.
Musiala completed his hat-trick – and Bayern’s scoring for the evening – in added time of the first-half after capitalising on a defensive mishap and converting.
