Could the Dodgers’ World Series victory have predicted who will win the 2024 election?

The Dodgers were crowned World Series champions on Wednesday night – but the next US president may have been anointed as well in the process.

Of course, the election between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump will be decided next week.

And as pointed out by FiveThirtyEight’s Nathaniel Rakich, Trump lost in the election the last time LA won the World Series in 2020.

That time, the Dodgers defeated the Rays after a Covid-shortened MLB season, while Trump was defeated by current President Joe Biden in the presidential race a week later.

In 2016, before Trump won his first term as president, the Cubs defeated Cleveland in seven games.

The Dodgers celebrate winning the 2024 World Series. The last time they won the World Series, Donald Trump lost the election a week later.

The 78-year-old certainly has some fans in the sports world, as former Packers star Brett Favre campaigned for Trump at a rally in Green Bay.

Trump also gave a shoutout to injured Packers running back A.J. Dillon, who was at the rally as well.

49ers star Nick Bosa also proudly showed off his MAGA hat after his team beat the Seahawks on Sunday.

However, others in the sports world have taken a strong stand against Trump.

Earlier this month, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich referred to him as a ‘pathetic whiner.’

Warriors coach Steve Kerr is also a noted Democrat and spoke at the party’s convention over the summer.

The election is on next Tuesday, November 5.
