Why Donald Trump won’t attend Penn State football game

Donald Trump will not attend Saturday’s huge college football game between Penn State and Ohio State because he has a rally instead.

Reports last month claimed Trump was set to watch the game in the pivotal swing state of Pennsylvania just three days before the election.

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger, Trump’s team had been making plans for him to attend the matchup after he was invited by a ‘private citizen’.

But a Penn State spokesman has now confirmed that the former president will not stop by.

They said: ‘The University has been notified that former President Donald Trump will no longer be attending the Ohio State-Penn State football game.’

The No. 3 Nittany Lions will host the No. 4 Buckeyes in a massive Big Ten clash.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 12pm ET but Trump has other arrangements as he looks to secure a return to the White House in the coming days.

Trump’s schedule on his campaign website says he will be at a rally at 4pm ET in Salem, Virginia instead.

The visit to Penn State would have come after the former president popped up at Alabama’s matchup against Georgia last month.

Trump sat near famous golfer John Daly, musician Kid Rock, Alabama senator Katie Britt and senator and former longtime head football coach Tommy Tuberville.

The 78-year-old arrived about midway through the first quarter and was greeted by a small crowd of supporters wearing Pittsburgh jerseys toting a banner that read ‘Trump Nation.’

He later waved from his suite, with some fans chanting ‘USA.’

However, franchise legends Jerome Bettis and ‘Mean’ Joe Greene both released statements afterwards endorsing Trump’s rival for the presidency, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

On the other hand, Trump received support from a couple of former Steelers in wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Le’Veon Bell.
