Alexa PenaVega reveals why husband Carlos doesn’t appear on Big Time Rush’s new song with Lil Uzi Vert

Alexa PenaVega is attempting to silence the critics who spoke out about her husband Carlos PenaVega, 35, declining to join his band Big Time Rush on the new Lil Uzi Vert song The Rush.

The Spy Kids actress, 36, took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain that the song does not align with her family’s values so Carlos opted to sit this one out.

‘Hey friends, I wanted to hop on here to address something. We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family-friendly or what one would consider ‘safe,” Alexa wrote.

‘Today, a song was released that featured the BTR boys minus Carlos because it did not align with his values.

She added, ‘While thankful for the opportunity, Carlos kindly passed.’

Lil Uzi Vert, 29, released their new album Eternal Atake 2 on Friday, which lists Carlos’ band as a featured artist on the track The Rush.

‘Unfortunately it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature. Not a Kendall, Logan and James feature,’ Alexa’s statement continued.

Carlos, Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson and James Maslow founded Big Time Rush for the Nickelodeon TV show of the same name, which ran from 2009 to 2013.

‘As a wife who has watched Carlos navigate his values alone in an industry not set up for ‘family,’ I have been at times both incredibly proud and totally heartbroken for him,’ Alexa wrote.

‘This is not putting anyone down. We just respectfully would like to make the people who follow us aware of the mishap and address that this was something he was not a part of. God Bless,’ she concluded.

Lest anyone think her husband isn’t fully on board with Alexa’s statement, he re-shared it on his Instagram Stories.

‘Love u my angel,’ he wrote via Instagram Story on Friday. ‘Thank you for always having my back.’

In the song, Big Time Rush sings ‘Hey, hey, you’re not Big Time Rush /Dude, you’re not Big Time Rush / We’re Big Time Rush/ We’re Big Time Rush.’

Lil Uzi Vert then goes on to sing, ‘I get fried, I’m high, huh / Your b***h tryna f**k (Yeah),’ among other lyrics.

Carlos and Alexa met in a bible study group and have been married for a decade. They share three children – sons Ocean, seven, and Kingston, four, and daughter Rio, two.

Earlier this year, the family faced tragedy after Alexa suffered a stillbirth of their fourth child, a daughter they planned on naming Indy.
