Raygun comes clean on rumours she’s going to star on TV after shooting to worldwide fame at the Olympics

Australian Olympic breakdancing sensation Raygun has addressed rumours she’s going on a reality TV show following her infamous viral performance at the Paris Games.

Rachael Gunn, otherwise known by her nickname Raygun, became a global source of ridicule during the Olympics in August.

Dressed in an Australian tracksuit that looked more like a cricket uniform than a breakdancing get-up, Raygun hopped like a kangaroo and slid around the floor like a snake in a routine that did not impress the judges.

Now that she’s returned to Australia following a European vacation, the dancer appears to be striking while the iron is hot and making the most of her newfound fame.

The embattled breaker has been photographed with stars, showed off a stunning new look on the cover of a magazine and is popping up in various radio interviews.

However, she’s ruling out doing reality TV.

‘There were a lot of reality TV requests,’ Raygun told Nova radio.

It was rumoured that the 37-year-old might appear in the jungle for Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here – but she’s not interested.

‘As someone that went viral from their performance at the Olympics, I think I’ve got a very memeable face, it’s very expressive,’ she said.

‘And I just feel like going on reality television… I just feel like going on reality television is just not the right move.’

The unlikely Aussie icon admits that her world has been turned upside down since she shot to fame.

‘It’s been so hard to process,’ she told Stellar magazine.

‘My whole world has changed. My identity has changed. My relationships have changed, for better or for worse.

‘It’s in times like these that you find out who your real friends are, unfortunately. And because things are still changing, it’s just impossible to wrap your head around.

‘It’s hard to predict what it’s going to be like when I leave the house.

‘It’s still a process because I’m having to prioritise my own health.

‘I speak to my family when I can, but it’s hard for me to know the toll it’s taken on them because I think that will take a toll on me.’

Additionally, she’s recently received a new honour on the front lawns of Aussie homes, with handmade tributes to her routine erected for Halloween.

Many Aussies dressed up as Raygun for Halloween too, including Matilda Cortnee Vine.

Meanwhile, Raygun revealed her own encounter with a fan who was dressed in her iconic costume to go trick or treating. 

‘I was coming home from the shops and saw someone dressed as me trick-or-treating,’ she told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.

‘I wound down the window and said,”‘I love your costume,” and they were stunned!’
