Osher Gunsberg reveals the sad reason his eight-year marriage to wife Audrey Griffin almost ended

Osher Günsberg has revealed the sad reason that his eight-year marriage to wife Audrey Griffin almost ended.

The former Bachelor Australia host, 50, candidly spoke about the difficult patch in his marriage and how he realised his relationship might not ‘survive’.

He explained that he began suffering from chronic pain after undergoing a hip replacement in 2020, which almost took a fatal toll on his marriage.

‘The pain lines got etched into my face,’ Osher told Stellar magazine’s Something To Talk About podcast.

‘Audrey was like, ‘My parents are coming down for the weekend, can you get the sheets and put them on the bed?” I’m like, ”Yeah, all right”.

‘But because I’ve got that on my face and I’m dealing with the pain in my body, it comes out tinged with this antagonism that’s not there, but it is.’

The Masked Singer host said he could not even bear his wife touching him as it caused him so much pain, which put a strain on their relationship.

I get these massive spikes of agony caused by my wife trying to cuddle me, flinching away from a cuddle isn’t good for your relationship, but it hurt,’ he said.

‘It became fairly clear that my relationship isn’t going to survive this.’

Osher went on to reveal that he learned to overcome the problem with the help of a psychologist.

He revealed she taught him how to identify the difference between real pain signals and once that were being amplified.

Osher – who is releasing a SBS documentary titled Osher Günsberg: A World Of Pain – said that while he is still experiencing pain, it is something that he has learned to live with.

‘There is a sensation in my body as I speak to you. Is it discomfort? If I fixated on it, it would be pain,’ he said.

‘But it’s something I’m OK with. I’ve had all the scans, I’ve seen all the doctors, I’m still doing rehab.

‘I’m still in discomfort right now but it’s okay because my ability to change my relationship with it is the thing I really worked on.’

The presenter’s health struggles began in his 30s when he developed osteoarthritis, which required a hip replacement.

However, there were complications with the surgery which caused his pain to consistently get worse, with his condition and two further surgeries aging him ‘significantly’.

Osher and Audrey met in 2015, while filming season four of The Bachelor Australia, where Osher worked as a host and Audrey was a stylist and make-up artist.

The pair wed in the Hunter Valley in January 2017 in front of 200 guests before the couple welcomed their son Wolfgang in 2019.
