A mother-in-law has been accused of murdering her heavily pregnant daughter-in-law after reportedly claiming she used ‘witchcraft’ to seduce her son.
Zara Bibi was seven months pregnant when Sughran Bibi, with the help of multiple accomplices, allegedly killed her and then chopped her body into pieces before scattering the remains across the city of Daska in Pakistan.
The 30-year-old mother was reported missing last week before local police officers made the grizzly discovery of her body parts in three separate bags.
Deccan Herald, an Indian english language newspaper, reported that Sughran had issued a confession to the murder.
Senior police officer Omar Farooq said: ‘In her confessional statement, Sughran Bibi said that she suspected Zara of allegedly practising “witchcraft”. Besides, her son Qadir had started sending money directly to Zara in her bank instead to his mother.
‘The four suspects smothered Zara with a pillow while she was asleep. After that they burnt her face and chopped off her body into dozens of pieces before dumping it in a drain in three sacks,’
Zara had been married to Qadir Ahmed for four years and had a three-year-old son. The family had been living in Saudi Arabia before Zara returned to Pakistan just over two weeks ago.
Her father, Shabbir Ahmed, claimed that Qadir’s family were jealous of Zara because she was living abroad.

The former police officer told Dawn, a Pakistani english language news outlet, that he hadn’t heard from his daughter since November 10 when her mobile phone was switched.
He then visited her in-laws two days later who told him Zara had ‘left the house with jewelry and valuables.’
With his concerns for his daughter’s safety mounting, Mr Ahmed reported her missing.
Police arrested Sughran and three other suspects which included her daughter Yasmin, her grandson Hamza and a distant relative Navid.
A fourth suspect – Sughran’s relative Abdullah has reportedly also been arrested.
Police have said all four have confessed to the murder.
A murder case has been registered against the suspects.
