KIIS FM presenter Mitch Churi broke down live on-air on Wednesday afternoon, as he confirmed to listeners he had been sacked from the network.
The radio star, who co-hosted The Pick Up drive time show alongside Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley, became emotional as he revealed the heartbreaking news to his co-stars.
‘Late last week I was informed by the powers that be that they have identified my role here as one that won’t be returning in 2025,’ Mitch began.
Mitch then revealed he was blindsided by the decision and he wished it had not come to this.
‘I just want to say it wasn’t my decision or my call. I really wanted to stay on the show with you two. I really wanted to stay with KIIS.’
Co-star Laura Byrne, 38, jumped in to say she and Laura fully supported Mitch and wished him all the best for the future.

‘This is not what we want for the show. It’s a decision that has been made out of our control. Britt and I have to continue on doing the show without you and we are utterly devastated,’ Laura said.
‘You are not only our co-host, but also one of our best friends,’ Brittany chipped in.
Fortunately, Mitch will be able to properly farewell listeners as he will remain on air until the end of the year.
Mitch later posted the clip to Instagram and his celebrity friends quickly took to the comment section to share their support.
‘We’ll miss you, Mitch,’ wrote fellow radio stars Amanda Keller and Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones.
‘I’m so sorry. I know it hurts. But the world awaits. One door closes another opens will def be in your future,’ added Channel Seven presenter Kylie Gillies and TV presenter Tristan MacManus chipped in: ‘Sorry to hear’.
On Wednesday, Laura and Brittany were spotted supporting Mitch as he exited KIIS FM’s North Sydney studios after the shock news.
The radio presenters looked emotional as they embraced Mitch while walking him out of the studio, shortly after the shock news broke he had been given his marching orders.

It follows reports that KIIS FM is reeling this week as the major star has reportedly been given marching orders and he will finish up at the end of the year, the Daily Telegraph claimed on Tuesday.
He had hosted The Night Show with Mitch Churi since 2019, and co-hosts The Pick Up with Laura and Brittany.
The decision was made for ‘financial reasons’ the paper claims, and Mitch, who has not been on the air since Thursday, was given the bad news on Tuesday.
‘Mitch is shattered and completely blindsided,’ the publication quoted a ‘colleague’ as saying.
