- The ex-Storm and Raiders player is undefeated
- He beat ex-All Blacks star Liam Messam on Wednesday
- The former footy star is eyeing up a huge opponent next
Curtis Scott has called out British fighter Darren Till after he defeated former All Blacks hardan Liam Messam in Penrith on Wednesday night.
The former Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders centre extended his fight record to four wins from four following his unanimous decision victory against the 40-year-old New Zealand rugby legend.
Messam and Scott, 27, traded some brutal blows in the ring during their battle of the codes bout, with the latter landing some brutal shots on his Kiwi opponent, who had held a seven-fight undefeated record prior to stepping into the ring.
The New Zealander, who had played club rugby for the Chiefs and retired from the sport in 2020 after making 43 Test appearances, had been Scott’s toughest opponent so far.
Scott now has eyes for a more accomplished opponent, and fresh off his victory against Messam, he revealed that he was now targeting a bout with former MMA star Till.
‘There’s a bit of talk about me fighting Darren Till, so you get him over in Australia that would be a massive fight for the Australian public,’ he told Sporting News Australia after the bout.

Till appeared at an explosive press conference on Tuesday afternoon ahead of his hotly anticipated bout against Tommy Fury on January 18 in Manchester.
Sparks flew during the media event in which Till threatened to kick Fury in the face during the bout. Meanwhile, the former Love Island contestant’s dad, John, was the centre of attention, rising from his seat to throw a glass of water at Till – instead soaking his son, Tommy.
After he faces off against Fury, Scott was enticed by the prospect of brining the Liverpudlian to Australia for a potential bout on the Gold Coast next year.
‘There’s been a bit of talk in the media and stuff,’ Scott added.
‘He’s in the boxing world now. Obviously, he’s a big name and Australia is a nice place. So could be a nice holiday for him. And if we can get that happening that would be great.’
The former NRL player, who also claimed he only had two weeks to prepare for Wednesday’s bout, admitted his elation at the victory.
‘I had to really dig deep in that one,’ the 27-year-old said. ‘He was a tough customer. Could have gone either way in the end and I was happy to get the decision. Yea, it was a great fight.
Messam had been Scott’s toughest opponent yet, but the former All Blacks star would suffer the first loss of his boxing career
‘[I] stayed composed. It fell into a bit of a slug-fest with him in that last round and I kind of lost my composure.
‘But I just tried to stay calm and come through the experience as well. It was my fourth fight and it was a big step again – he’s had a heap of fights. Seven wins and one draw. Before then he’s had a heap of charity fights too that aren’t on his record.
‘So he’s got a lot of experience, so it was a big test for me and I’m happy to get the win.
‘We’ll go back to the drawing board on that one, but I think there’s a big card in January up on the Goldy. I want to get big exciting fights here in Australia.’
Scott had previously stated that it would be his dream to square off against Paul Gallen and Sonny Bill Williams, who have both said they’ve retired from the ring.
