Reddit down for millions of Australians as outage sparks mass outrage : ‘What is going on?’

Millions of Aussies are fuming after Reddit was hit my a mass outage leaving social media users unable to access the popular online platform. 

Online network insights website Downdetector issued an alert on Thursday morning to indicate people have experienced issues accessing the app. 

‘User reports indicate problems at reddit,’ the alert read. 

Almost 1,800 outages were reported around 9.30am and users have been met with an error message when they try and log in. 

‘Our CDN was unable to reach our servers,’ the message states. 

Social media users were directed to another link underneath the error message if they keep experiencing the issue however, users are now able to log in to the app. 

The disruption angered Aussie social media users with many taking to other platforms such as X to express their frustration. 

‘Reddit is down and I’m here for the updoots [sic],’ one social media user wrote.

‘Reddit s**t the bed again, another user wrote. 

‘Has reddit crashed?’ a third asked. 

More than 500million people use reddit across the world and just over 40 per cent of users are aged between 18 to 29 according to figures by trends website exploding topics. 

The app was first launched in 2005 and will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The latest outage comes after Aussies were unable to log on to Ticketek on Tuesday to book tickets to live events. 

Customers came across a message informing them that officials were conducting maintenance work on the site.

‘The Ticketek website is currently undergoing maintenance. We apologise that the update is taking longer than anticipated,’ the message indicated. 

The outage is understood to have started on Sunday night.

Customers were warned they would experience disruptions in an effort to book their tickets to concerts and other live events. 

Dozens of people took to social media to express their anger as they scrambled to book their tickets. 

‘Yikes is anyone else stressing about Ticketek being down? I can’t access my tickets,’ one complained on X.

‘Ticketek is under maintenance and I can’t access my tickets. Am I cooked?’ another person wrote.
