It was a picture-perfect day at Château Du Soleil wedding venue in Byron Bay. The kind of setting that dreams – and Instagram posts – are made of.
The bride, Tammy Hembrow, looked radiant in her strapless ivory and blush pink gown, her tulle train catching the soft breeze. Guests gathered in elegant clusters sipping champagne as she exchanged vows with Love Island star Matt Zukowski, who wore black tailored suit, matching his four groomsmen.
But not everyone was entranced solely by the bride.
Like a blue comet streaking across a pastel sky, Anna McEvoy – the female best friend of the groom – made her show-stopping entrance in a daring navy dress.
With its plunging neckline and thigh-high split, the slinky number seemed designed to demand attention. And attention it garnered. The 32-year-old’s outfit, paired with striking gold heels and a cream handbag, showcased her gym-honed physique to perfection and oozed sex appeal.
Heads turned. Some no doubt admired her boldness – after all, Hembrow and Zukowski’s wedding was the influencer event of the year. But was McEvoy’s outfit a calculated breach of the unspoken rule ‘never upstage the bride’?

Was McEvoy’s outfit a calculated breach of the unspoken rule ‘never upstage the bride’?
She would never admit it – but the gossiping guests couldn’t eliminate the possibility.
Regardless of what her intentions were, McEvoy’s sartorial choice ensured that the narrative wasn’t entirely the bride’s alone.
Now, as the dust settles on the fairytale wedding, social media sleuths are convinced they’ve worked out the real backstory behind the blue dress.
They believe McEvoy – who co-hosts the Where’s Your Head At? podcast with Zukowski – wore the revealing outfit as ‘payback’ after Hembrow wore numerous bridal-white dresses to her wedding celebrations in Greece back in May.
That would, of course, be breaking the second unspoken rule of wedding attire: only the bride gets to wear white.
‘Tammy did it to her at her wedding. Payback time,’ one Instagram sleuth wrote in response to Daily Mail Australia’s exclusive photos.
Others suggested the pair’s choice of attire for each other’s nuptials spoke volumes about how Hembrow and McEvoy allegedly feel about one another.
And one influencer-watcher noted that McEvoy was absent from the joint hens and bucks party – which was odd given her closeness to the groom.

‘There was a reason she WASN’T invited,’ they sniped.
Feud or no feud, McEvoy looked to be having the time of her life at the wedding, and it seemed whatever disagreement led to her being snubbed from the bucks-and-hens night last month had been smoothed over.
Back in May, it was McEvoy’s turn to say ‘I do’ with her long-term partner Michael Staples. The couple tied the knot in Greece and the occasion was just as lavish as Hembrow and Zukowski’s wedding.
But it wouldn’t be a celebrity wedding without a little drama, and that arrived courtesy of none other than… a newly engaged Hembrow and Zukowski.
The couple was accused of overshadowing McEvoy and Staples’ special day with their loved-up holiday spam – which began the moment they touched down in Corfu.
It was immediately picked up by the hosts of Outspoken, a wildly popular podcast that documents influencer drama.

One photo from Hembrow and Zukowski’s Instagram spree showed them kissing in matching white outfits next to a cosy-looking McEvoy and Staples. ‘It felt like a bit “me, me, me.” Like, “We’re getting married next, this is all about us,”‘ remarked the hosts of Outspoken the podcast
‘I was wondering how Anna felt about having to invite Tammy because she has been posting a lot of content while she’s been in Corfu. Almost overshadowing it.’

One of the Outspoken hosts remarked: ‘It kind of felt like a bit “me, me, me.” Like, “We’re getting married next, this is all about us,”‘ they said.
With McEvoy’s blue dress stealing the spotlight over the weekend, perhaps the two ladies can now call it a draw and let bygones by bygones?
I wouldn’t bet on it.
