Super Bowl LIX National Anthem singer confirmed with Grammy winner to perform before big game in New Orleans

The NFL has announced its pregame entertainment lineup for this season’s Super Bowl in New Orleans – including who has been chosen to perform the National Anthem.

Super Bowl LIX is scheduled to take place at Caesars Superdome – the home of the New Orleans Saints – on Sunday February 9, 2025 in what will be the first to be held in Louisiana for 11 years.

Rap superstar Kendrick Lamar has received the honor of headlining the highly-anticipated halftime show, following in the footsteps of the likes of Usher, Rihanna, Beyonce and more.

And before the big game gets underway in New Orleans, acclaimed musical artist Jon Batiste will sing the Star Spangled Banner in front of 83,000 spectators and millions across the globe to officially kick off proceedings.

Batiste, a five-time Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-winning artist, has been selected to perform the National Anthem at Caesars Superdome, which will mark another high point in an already-illustrious career for the New Orleans native.

The American singer, songwriter and composer recently released the album ‘Beethoven Blues’ – his own reinvention of Beethoven’s iconic works – which debuted as the No. 1 classical album in the charts right now.

He also composed the innovative score for the critically-acclaimed film Saturday Night, as well as for his documentary American Symphony, which was recently nominated for two Grammys.

As well as Batiste, other musical acts have been confirmed for the pregame show, with Trombone Shorty, Lauren Daigle and Ledisi also set to perform prior to the national anthem.

‘We’re honored to work with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state,’ said Seth Dudowsky, head of music at the NFL.

‘The Super Bowl is a rare moment to unite fans around the world, and this year’s performers will bring the energy, soul and vibrant sounds of the region to a global stage, as we kickoff Super Bowl LIX with a celebration to remember.’

Last season’s pre-Super Bowl National Anthem was sung by American country singer Reba McEntire, while R&B icon Usher headlined the halftime show.

Usher brought out a number of special guests for his performance on the night, including Alisha Keys, Ludacris and Will.i.am.
