Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst step down as SBS Eurovision hosts: ‘It’s been a huge honour’

Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst are stepping down as the SBS Eurovision hosts.

SBS quietly made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon that the pair would not be continuing their role leading the Australian coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.

‘Since 2017, the most dynamic duo in the biz, acclaimed TV and radio personalities, music buff Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey have shared the joy of Eurovision with Australian audiences but are now ready to step out of the commentary booth and pass on their glittery microphones in 2025,’ the statement read.

The public broadcaster went on to thank the duo for their eight years of service.

‘SBS would like to extend their sincere thanks to Myf & Joel for their incredible work over the years.’

‘It’s been a huge honour to host the Eurovision Song Contest for SBS,’ Myf and Joel were quoted in the statement.

‘We have absolutely adored watching our Australian artists compete on the world stage and it’s been a privilege to bring that experience to our dedicated Australian Eurovision fans,’ they continued.

‘We are very grateful to SBS and Blink TV and both acknowledge that one of the best things to come out of all of this is our beautiful friendship.’

Myf and Joel also hinted that they will definitely be collaborating some time in the future.

‘We certainly aim to work together in some capacity again soon.

‘We wish SBS and the new hosts all the very best with future broadcasts, and we look forward to getting up super early next year to watch it with the rest of Australia from the couch in our pyjamas,’ the TV stars said.

‘Other than music and wind machines, Eurovision is also about joy, passion and camaraderie,’ said Paul Clarke, Australia’s Creative Director for Eurovision after hearing the news.

‘Finding hosts that embody this is never easy, but we struck gold with Myf and Joel eight years ago and have loved working with them ever since. We wish them all the best post-Eurovision.’

Clarke also suggested the public broadcaster had lined up the duo’s replacement.

‘We are excited to introduce you to a dynamic new host team for 2025 – watch this space!’

The duo have hosted the SBS broadcast since 2017, succeeding long-time hosts Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang.
