Can you guess who this big-name actor is after Paddy Power gave him a makeover for an upcoming Christmas football advert?
You must be his biggest fan if you can – because he comes out of the three-and-a-half-hour revamp looking nothing like he did when he entered it.
The Albert Square icon had a team of transformation pros milling around him and pulling out all the stops to get him ready for the video.
The Christmas period is always a feast of football for fans all over the country and this year will be no different.
Spurs and Liverpool face each other just three days before Christmas, and then Manchester United and Newcastle meet in their final game of 2024.
And there’s much more to keep fans on the sofa with a mince pie and Christmas pudding to boot.
A big-name TV star looked unrecognisable as he was given a makeover for a football advert
Are you able to identify who it is? He will appear in an upcoming ad to promote Christmas football
There is plenty of exciting football around Christmas including Man United facing Newcastle
To whet fans’ appetites for the football extravaganza, Paddy Power decided to call on the services of a 47-year-old actor.
With appearances in Human Traffic, Mean Machine, and Football Factory, he’s made quite a name for himself on the screen.
Oh, and don’t forget about EastEnders, on which he played Mick Carter for nine years.
We are of course talking about Danny Dyer, father of Love Island’s Dani Dyer and father-in-law to-be of West Ham and England winger Jarrod Bowen.
Were you able to identify who he was? Or did you need Mail Sport’s helping hand to guide you through?
‘I’m already a grandad to three cracking kids, but after three-and-a-half hours sat in that make-up chair from the crack of dawn I actually looked like one!’ Dyer said.
‘It’s probably the easiest money I’ve ever made to be fair – sat with my trotters up, having a brew and a natter. Happy days.
‘It did scare the life out of the grandkids when I FaceTimed them after though. They were proper freaking out. They didn’t have a clue who who this random old guy was on the screen. Poor things.
The star in question is none other than former EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, 47
As well as being an actor, he is the father of former Love Island contestant Dani Dyer
‘That said, getting into the bl**dy phone itself was a nightmare, with the face recognition thing not sussing I had aged about 30 years since I last used it. What a mug.
‘It wasn’t just the grandkids who didn’t recognise me either. I could hear loads of people on set wondering who this old bloke was wandering around the gaff. I think they thought I owned the place. Some nice fella on the set even offered to help me up the stairs!
‘Eventually I sat down and had a chat with Callum who played my son in the ad. We were both in our make-up and just couldn’t believe how different we looked.
‘A right bl**dy state we were!’
