Girl drowns in a pond after riding a tricycle into water

A toddler girl has drowned in a pond for plunging into the water with a tricycle in central China’s Henan Province.

Footage emerged online showing the moment she mistakenly pressed on the vehicle’s gas pedal and dashed right into the pond. 

Her grandmother was playing in a mahjong parlour when the incident happened.

According to Pear Video, the two-year-old toddler was a ‘left-behind’ children, living with her grandparents in Shangcheng county, Henan Province. 

Surveillance camera video captured the incident that happened in the front yard of the parlour on November 29.

The girl, whose name was not revealed, can be seen sitting on the driver’s seat in a red tricycle.

An onlooker was shocked to see the powered vehicle moving when she walked at the front.

The toddler and the tricycle fell into the water. The girl was found dead when rescuers saved her from the water.

Pear stated that the key was still lodged in the keyhole when the girl was on the vehicle.

The family put the girl’s coffin outside the parlour while trying to negotiate for compensation

It’s suggested that she stepped on the gas pedal by mistake and drove the vehicle straight ahead to the pond. 

A neighbour spoke in the video: ‘The tricycle owner parked the vehicle here and went indoor to play mahjong. The girl had stopped breathing when she was pulled out from the water.’

It’s reported that the girl was the only child in the family.

The girl’s coffin was placed in front of the mahjong parlour as the family trying to negotiate with the parlour owner and the tricycle driver over compensation matters.
