Dave Portnoy slams people ‘thirsting’ over Luigi Mangione after alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO

Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy does not understand the ‘thirsting’ over alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO murderer Luigi Mangione, as he called the trend ‘weird’ this week.

Mangione, who is charged with the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson last week in Midtown Manhattan, has been the subject of widespread swooning – with many internet users focusing on his appearance over his alleged crimes.

Portnoy, though, is not on board with the discussion often surrounding the 26-year-old suspect.

‘People are thirsting over the United Healthcare murderer. I think this is weird,’ he said on a new episode of BFFs. ‘Like I get jokes, he’s ripped. But he’s a murderer.

‘I also don’t get the people like… there’s a lot of people upset with the healthcare system. You’re entitled to your opinion, but a murder’s a murder,’ he continued.

Mangione has been charged with second-degree murder in New York, as well as three gun charges and forgery.

On Monday, Mangione was arrested while eating at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

But while the manhunt was on for him, many images of him from beforehand – including one shirtless photo – spread online, leading internet users to lust over his appearance.

The conversation even continued onto late-night TV, as Stephen Colbert cracked jokes about Mangione’s looks.

On Monday night’s show, after the arrest, Colbert made some quips about his abs.

‘This story started tragic, but then it very quickly added weird because when authorities initially released security photos of the suspect, the internet reaction was swift and horny,’ Colbert said during his monologue.

He later said, ‘You know guy’s Italian because you could grate parmesan on those abs.’

According to The New York Post, his family was so concerned about him that he was reported missing on Nov 18.

When he was brought into court by a horde of sheriff’s deputies Tuesday afternoon in Altoona, PA, he yelled out angrily.

‘It’s completely out of touch and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience,’ he said.
