Unhinged moment ‘angry Karen’ unleashes on staff at a formal boutique after another customer bought the dress she wanted

Astonishing footage has emerged of a mum unleashing into a furious rage at a popular formal gown boutique because her daughter missed out on her ‘dream’ dress.

Staff at Gossip Gowns at Coorparoo, in Brisbane, had just started filming content for one of their well-known TikTok videos when the unhinged ‘Karen’ stormed into the store demanding to speak to a manager.

The staff member kept filming but pointed her phone to the ground as the woman off camera launched tirade about how another girl ‘snuck in’ and ‘stole’ her daughter’s formal dress.

The video, titled ‘Crazy Karen Encounter’, has gone viral since it was posted two days ago.

The staff explained online that just like many other formal boutiques in Brisbane, Gossip Gowns keeps a registry of customers from each school so classmates aren’t sold the same dress.

The woman’s daughter had been told about the store policy when she was looking at dresses on a previous day – but left the boutique without buying one to ‘think about her options’.

In the meantime, another girl from the teen’s school visited the boutique and reserved the dress.

But the mum demanded the store to let her daughter have the ‘blue dress’ because she ‘fell in love’ with it.

The mother of a teenager confronted staff in a Brisbane formal dress boutique and demanded they give her daughter the blue dress she wanted. Pictured is a shocked staff member after the woman stormed out of the store

‘Everyone knows she wanted the blue dress, they all talk about it and some little sneak’s come in and taken her dress,’ the mum said.

‘I want (my daughter) to have the dress she’s always dreamed of.

‘So we gotta make this right.’

The woman then insisted on knowing which teenager had the audacity to buy her own dream dress without considering her daughter.

‘Pull it up and show me … I bet I know who it is,’ she said.

A staff member replied: ‘We can’t disclose that information to customers’.

This response did go down well with the Karen.

‘No, I am actually demanding you tell me because if it’s the person I am thinking they would be much better in a pink – they’re wishy-washy.

‘Put ’em in a green, put ’em in a pink.

‘Let my girl have her blue. Please.’

When the staff member said ‘we’re sorry’, the woman interrupted with the line Karen’s around the world use as their weapon.

‘You’re going to lose a customer. I’m telling you. I know a lot of people and I’ve got a lot of young girls coming through,’ the mum threatened.

After staff calmly explained that they still couldn’t give her daughter the dress, the woman stormed out of the boutique.

‘You’ll be hearing from me,’ she said.

The video also captioned that the woman had somehow found out who the girl was – and was allegedly ‘harassing her’.

Dozens of online viewers praised the young staff members on how they handled the incident.

Others were left stunned by the mum’s audacity.

‘Please let this be a skit,’ one said.

Another wrote: ‘This can’t be real’ another wrote.

A third added ‘”I’m demanding it”, like okay? Is that a magic spell?’

The viral video caught the attention of popular Aussie influencer Indy Clinton, who also commended the staff.

‘I can’t stop laughing but you guys handled it so well, wow,’ Ms Clinton said.

Some thought it was a joke or marketing ploy and believed the ‘Karen’ sounded like Kath or Kim – or comedian Mel Buttle, who has a character called ‘Lyn’ that is known for being a ‘Karen’.

‘That’s 100 per cent Mel Buttle. There’s no way this isn’t a skit,’ one wrote.

‘Sounds like Lyn has had enough @MelButtle,’ another added.

The Aussie comedian has since uploaded her own hilarious TikTok as her character Lyn, denying it was her in the boutique.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Gossip Gowns who have declined to comment.
