A group of sticky fingered thieves have made off with a plethora of beehives in a truly buzz-arre burglary.

The robbers performed the sting on a South Australian farm, flying away with 18 hives that would have been full of honey.

Police have been combing the area following the act, which is believed to have happened in the past week.

The thieves reportedly cut a padlock off a gate leading into the property in Coorong, south-east of Adelaide, between November 29 and December 6.

The hives would have been full following Spring, with farmers potentially losing thousands of dollars worth of honey.

The 18 structures were marked with the letters ‘BRC’.

This is the fourth beehive-related robbery in the area this year, but police haven’t confirmed yet whether the crimes are related.
