Keanu Reeves is uncertain that he’ll ever be able to return to the John Wick franchise due to the physical demands of the films.
The beloved Hollywood star, 60, has played the titular role for a decade, with the first film being released in 2014.
And although it was confirmed that a fifth movie is in development with production due to kick off next year, leading man Keanu has cast doubt over whether he’s fit enough to return.
During a recent appearance on CBS This Morning, to promote Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Keanu was asked whether he would ever return to the character.
‘You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, “You can’t do another John Wick,”‘ he said.
‘So, my heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it…’

The first John Wick movie was released in 2014 and saw the titular character, a retired hitman, pulled back into the violent life against his will.
The film went on to become a hit at the worldwide box office, grossing $86 million against a budget of $20 million to $30 million.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) ended up doing even better at the box office, raking in $171.5 million from a budget of about $40 million.
The third film arrived in 2019.
Following the trend of the first two movies, Chapter 3 topped both of the previous instalments at the box office, earning a whopping $327.3 million against a budget of $75 million.
And, since premiering on March 24 in the States, John Wick: Chapter 4 has grossed a whopping $440 million against a budget of about $100 million.
In Chapter Four, the ending appeared to show that the character had died in a very ambiguous scene.
John Wick 5 has reportedly been in the works since 2020.
In a recent interview, Keanu said of doing another film: ‘My knees right now are saying, “You can’t do another John Wick”‘
Director Chad Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter in October that the upcoming movie would launch a new storyline rather than following Chapter 4 directly.
In November, Chad revealed Eva Longoria was an angel investor on the original film.
At the time, Desperate Housewives actress invested $6 million in the 2014 movie, and still gets checks.
In a recent interview, she said that her only regret was not investing in the entire franchise, which has grossed $1 billion.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood podcast, Chad said that he didn’t know the Eva was the investor until after John Wick was completed and released.
