Tyson Fury promises to knock out Oleksandr Usyk following spectacular arrival in Riyadh ahead of historic rematch

  • Fury and Usyk will meet again in their much anticipated rematch on December 21
  • The pair touched down on Riyadh’s attraction named The Runway on Tuesday
  • Fury once again promised to knock out Usyk after losing the first fight in May

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk made their public Grand Arrival in Saudi Arabia by bouncing down the steps of one of the decommissioned jetliners in a new family attraction called The Runway.

Both have made more than enough millions here to come in private jets but landing in a corner of a theme park would have been even trickier than the problems they will pose each other in their world heavyweight championship rematch on Saturday night.

Both the Gypsy King and the Kyiv Cat claim they learned enough over 12 close rounds in May to prevail in the second edition of their rivalry.

Usyk to remain the undefeated ruler of boxing’s marquee division.

Fury to avenge his solitary defeat and set up a decisive and yet more enriching trilogy fight in this Kingdom next year.

Asked what will be different from effectively the 13th round Fury said; ‘I’m going to knock him out as promised.’

Usyk, spruce in a tailored purple suit with a dramatic white sash, responded; ‘it’s in God’s hands. But I think I win again.’

Precious few fans of either fighter were in a smattering of a crowd. We shall see if many more make the trek from both sides of Europe later in this Christmas week.

Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world by beating Fury in their first contest, with the Ukrainian awarded victory by a via split decision verdict from the three judges.

However, on this occasion there will be only three belts up for grabs, as Usyk has since vacated the IBF belt.

Fury has claimed to have rewatched their first bout ‘a hundred times’ and will be making some adjustments in a bid to cause Usyk’s first defeat of his career in their Riyadh showdown.

Fury has maintained that he was actually the victor from the first fight, and claims that he wasn’t focused – something he is keen to put right this time.

‘I need to be more focused this time and not do as much showboating, he said via GB News. ‘That’s how easy it was for me and you can get complacent.

‘I don’t believe the showboating cost me the fight but I need to be more focused this time and not do as much.’
