It’s the latest beauty craze gone wrong — and it is hitting celebrity A-listers the hardest.
Many Hollywood stars, such as Jessica Simpson and Scott Disick, faced accusations this year that they had ‘Ozempic face’ after stepping out on the red carpet with slimmed down profiles.
And fans now say there are even more celebrities who have been hit with the look, typified by sunken eyes, gaunt cheeks and sagging skin.
Katy Perry re-ignited rumors over ‘Ozempic face’ on Monday after fans said the 40-year-old — who was on the red carpet in Philadelphia — looked ‘gaunt’.
And at this year’s Met Gala, some viewers also raised concerns that Jennifer Lopez may be on Ozempic — saying she appeared to be ‘really skinny’.
Lizzo has also been hit with allegations she has Ozempic face, with fans saying her weight loss journey has slimmed out her appearance.
Lizzo and Katy Perry have denied using Ozempic, while Jennifer Lopez has not responded to the allegations.
Dr Adam Rubinstein, a plastic surgeon in Miami, told DailyMail.com: ‘Ozempic face is not really anything unique to Ozempic so much as it is the effect of losing a significant amount of weight.’
Dr Smita Ramanadham, a plastic surgeon in New Jersey, added: ‘We see a loss of volume in the face [with weight loss], and when we lose fat in the face we see signs like the cheeks are more sunken in, more sagging skin and a general hollowing out of the features.
‘Sometimes, it can have the effect of actually making a person look older — because the fat in our cheeks is what gives us a more youthful look.’
Katy Perry re-ignited rumors over Ozempic face this week after she appeared on the red carpet with a much slimmer physique. She was in Philadelphia. Plastic surgeons said her cheeks appeared thinner and there was less depth to her face, which suggested weight loss either via a weight loss drug or diet and exercise
Some plastic surgeons suggested that Jennifer Lopez had used Ozempic after she appeared at the Met Gala (Pictured above in May 2023 and May 2024). But others said that she always puts in work to stay in great shape
Some fans have also accused Lizzo of using Ozempic (shown left in May 2023 and right in November this year). Lizzo has denied this, and said her weight loss is down to exercise and diet. Plastic surgeons said Lizzo’s transformation was dramatic, and that her neck and jawline now really popped. They said the shift could be down to weight loss drugs, but wouldn’t have happened without her also putting in the effort with her diet and exercise
Dr Sue Decotiis, a weight loss expert who has prescribed Ozempic to thousands of patients, added weight loss looks more dramatic on those with longer faces because of the way the skin is stretched.
An estimated 15million people have used Ozempic and similar drugs for weight loss in the US to date, estimates suggest.
And of these, two thirds say that the drugs have been either ‘extremely effective’ or ‘effective’ at helping them shed some extra pounds.
Top of the recent list of Ozempic face allegations was Katy Perry, with viewers saying she was now ‘extremely thin’.
Dr Rubinstein said: ‘Her cheeks do look thinner overall, and she certainly does look more angular and thinner. There is also less depth to her face.
‘Over a year-and-a-half, this certainly could be because she is using Ozempic, or could also be because she is taking care of herself, going to the gym, and eating well. Over that time you can drop quite a bit of weight.’
The Wide Awake singer has poked fun at suggestions she’s used Ozempic, handing out goodie bags at her 40th birthday bash in October containing a mini-syringe emblazoned with the word OzempiKP.
This week, she complained on the red carpet that she ‘hates working out’, but said she had been doing more dancing and swimming to slim down.
Sources have also previously suggested her dramatic transformation is because of her husband Orlando Bloom, who is said to have taken over in the kitchen.
After viewing Lizzo’s photos, Dr Rubinstein added that the star had a ‘tremendous transformation’, adding that, ‘with or without Ozempic, I applaud what she has been able to do’.
He said: ‘She looks healthier and there is obvious weight loss between the May photo and the more recent one.
Scott Disick shocked the public when he emerged looking gaunt and malnourished in March – prompting some to question if he was abusing the weight-loss drug Ozempic
Jessica Simpson (pictured in 2020, left, and 2023) also had Ozempic face, surgeons suggested, because she had more sunken cheeks
Fans have shared their concerns about whether Sharon (pictured left in 2020) is ‘ill’ following her 3st weight loss after taking drug Ozempic
‘Her neckline and jawline now really pop, and there is also now the same contour in her cheeks that you couldn’t see before.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if she used Ozempic along with a good program, but the amount of change that she has been able to produce in herself is not something that you can do just by using medications alone.’
Lizzo, 36, has repeatedly denied that she’s using Ozempic, saying she is instead working out and eating healthily to lose weight.
She dressed up as a ‘LizzOzempic’ on Halloween, in reference to a South Park episode that linked her to the drug, and also shared a TikTok with the caption: ‘When you finally get Ozempic allegations after five months of weight training and calorie deficit.’
Jennifer Lopez, 55, has not addressed suggestions from plastic surgeons that she may have used Ozempic, but fans expressed concern for the singer after some said she appeared ‘gaunt’ and ‘really skinny’.
Surgeons who previously reviewed photos of fifteen celebrities who had had recent weight loss transformations, suggested that more than half — mostly men — had Ozempic face.
It was harder to tell with women, they said, because they have traditionally been more likely to use fillers and to cover up imperfections with makeup.
Top of the list was John Goodman, who the experts said had drastically less facial volume and, as a result, more loose skin that had formed wrinkles.
Dr Ramanadham said: ‘He hasn’t been in the news for anything on Ozempic, so I don’t know if it’s that…
‘But even with just weight loss you see more lines, more wrinkles, and more deeflation in his face as he loses weight compared to when he was heavier and his face was fuller.
‘These changes are just very typical of overall weight loss regardless of whether weight loss drugs were used.’
The 71-year-old John has lost 200lbs over more than a decade which he has put down to eating smaller portions, a daily walk with his dogs and at one point cutting sugar and alcohol from his diet.

Robbie Williams revealed he lost 25lbs on Ozempic (left in 2013 and right last year). Surgeons said the more pronounced lines on his face as well as the hollowing out of the cheeks were signs of Ozempic face
He has not said he used Ozempic, although pictures emerged of him at an airport in New York City this month appearing particularly gaunt.
Scott Disick — who is heavily rumored to be on Ozempic — was also on the list, with doctors pointing to the sunken areas beneath his eyes.
But surgeons said it is unusual for weight loss drugs to cause such a dramatic change in his appearance, suggesting other factors may be at play — including if he was using the drugs aggressively.
They also ranked Robbie Williams among the the celebrities with Ozempic face, with Dr Ramanadham saying: ‘You can see a hollowing under the eyes and the cheeks and more wrinkles appearing because of a loss of volume. With Robbie, you can see the direct results of weight loss.’
Dr Sue Decotiis, a weight loss specialist, added: ‘He looks like a totally different person! He has a longer face, which means the weight loss is definitely making him look very drawn.’
Jesse Plemons is pictured above in 2022 and again in 2024. In both images, he is attending the Oscars. The star has attributed his weight loss to intermittent fasting
The ‘Angels’ star, 50, revealed his 25lbs weight loss last year — saying it was due to ‘something like Ozempic’ and calling the weight loss a ‘Christmas miracle’.
Among women, both doctors said Sharon Osbourne, also 71, was the most dramatic example of Ozempic face — after the star revealed she lost 42lbs on Ozempic and then ‘couldn’t stop losing weight’.
‘Her eyes look more sunken in, her cheeks have more hollowing,’ said Dr Ramanadham.
‘There is a significant loss in facial volume as well, and more wrinkling that is associated with it.’
Both also pointed to the nasolabial fold — or line running from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth — which they said had become more pronounced.
On Jessica, Dr Jones said: ‘When you look at the earlier photo, her face is much fuller and has more volume.
‘But when I look at the later photo, her eyes, her face, is more sunken, her cheeks are not as full. Her face looks a little emaciated, actually, like she has been starving.’
Jessica has never said she used a weight loss drug, but previously revealed between 2019 and 2020 that she had lost 100lbs.
