What happened to our finances in 2024 – and will you get richer in 2025? This is Money podcast

What set the financial agenda in 2024? Was it Labour coming to power in the UK, Donald Trump winning another crack at the US presidency, or interest rates being cut from their peak – but not by as much as expected.

The past year has been another tumultous one but offered plenty of opportunities to profit, as the US stock market soared again, bitcoin blasted through $100,000 and savings rates remained above 5 per cent.

For some though it was bad news for their finances, as the shock of big jumps in mortgage payments hit them in the pocket.

On this end of year podcast, Georgie Frost, Lee Boyce and Simon Lambert look back at the big financial news of 2024 – and look forward to we will get richer in 2025.
