Brit books flight to wrong San Jose 4000m from destination

A British man nearly ended up 4,000 miles away from his holiday destination after he booked a flight to the wrong city of San Jose.

Steven Roberts, 31, was mean to be flying out to San Jose in Costa Rica with his friends, but managed to book a flight to San Jose in California.

As luck would have it, one of his friends pointed out to him that there were two cities with the same name and asked him to double check his flight – and the mistake was discovered in time.

Big mistake: Steven Roberts, 31, was mean to be flying out to San Jose in Costa Rica with his friends, but managed to book a flight to San Jose in California.

Mr Roberts, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, was set to go on a three week ‘lads holiday’ with his friends, the Sun reports.

However, having arrived in London and discovered that he and his friends were travelling from different airports, his friend sent him a warning text message.

The message from his friend read: ‘Are you sure you are going to the right San Jose? Not the one in the states?’

Mr Roberts posted the conversation on Facebook and wrote: ‘Wow… what a night! Having lost my train booking confirmation I managed to persuade a ‘train lady’ to search for me and retrieve my tickets 5 minutes before the train departed.

All is well that ends well: The mishap set Mr Roberts back £1,000, but he was able to join his friends in the right country
