Luton Town are reportedly set to sack manager Rob Edwards, with the club fearing relegation to the third tier.
The 42-year-old has been under immense pressure this term as the Hatters have failed to adjust to life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last term.
His departure from Kenilworth Road would be a sad end to a rollercoaster journey that began with the club gaining promotion to the top flight for the first in 31 years. Edwards’ side earned many plaudits for their performances in the Premier League but they ultimately fell short of their dream of survival.
According to talkSPORT, following their dismal start to the season, which now sees the side just two points above the drop zone, the club and Edwards have agreed to part ways.
Defeat by QPR on Monday night could prove to be the last straw, with a dejected Edwards even claiming that the ‘football gods’ are against his team.
‘Every week on the road we seem to be getting hit and hit and hit,’ he said after the 2-1 loss at Loftus Road.
‘Things have gone against us recently. It just seems the footballing gods are against us.
‘The results are not good enough. The players are giving everything, but we are in a results business.’
