Cincinnati Bengals star Jermaine Burton has been accused of hitting and choking a 19-year-old woman he was dating – and threatening to kill himself.
That is according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, who claims the assault was reported on the morning of December 30.
The woman is said to have told cops that Burton, 23, is ‘a narcissist’ and ‘a manipulator’. But she refused to press charges against the receiver.
The NFL star is accused of chasing the woman inside her apartment as well as breaking her phone, hitting her and choking her.
According to the woman, Burton also grabbed a knife from the dishwasher, held it to his neck and ‘said he was going to kill himself’.
‘Jermaine Burton on the Bengals just broke into my house,’ she told cops while sobbing heavily, according to The Enquirer.

‘He broke my phone… he’s been like pretty abusive. He does a lot of things that I don’t tolerate.’
She added: ‘He got in my dishwasher and he grabbed a knife and he held it to his neck… I don’t f***ing deserve this.’
The woman told police that Burton was ‘yelling’ and ‘screaming’ at her in the car before they went their separate ways. When she arrived home, however, he was said to be waiting for her.
‘He wouldn’t let me go inside. And he choked me…’ she said. ‘He blocked the door so I couldn’t go inside, and when I did go inside, he chased me upstairs. He broke into my house. He broke my phone.
‘This is the second time he’s broken my phone in the past month…. he broke my phone. He hit me and he left.’ Burton was gone by the time police arrived.
Amid rumors of a possible incident over the weekend, Burton posted a cryptic message on social media. ‘*lies*, he wrote. ‘Stop hitting my phone.’
According to The Enquirer, the woman suffered minor injuries. The 23-year-old receiver was selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, despite concerns over his off-field antics.
While playing for Alabama, he was caught on camera appearing to hit a female fan who rushed the field. Burton has continued to have disciplinary issues since joining Cincinnati.

It’s said that Burton and the woman met last September and had been dating – on and off – for several weeks before the alleged assault.
According to The Enquirer, the two went out before getting into an argument. Police were called, with the woman accusing Burton of meeting her at her apartment in a neighborhood of Cincinnati.
The alleged incident took place days before the Bengals travelled to Pittsburgh – without Burton – for their final game of the NFL regular season. The 23-year-old is also reportedly facing eviction from his apartment.
In a statement to The Enquirer, the Bengals said they are ‘aware of information related’ to the receiver.
‘We will continue to evaluate as we gather additional details and will have no further comment at this time,’ the team said.
