Legendary footy wild man Warwick Capper shares his amazing baby news at 61

  • Sydney Swans AFL great says he is ‘over the moon’

Colourful AFL cult hero Warwick Capper has announced he is becoming a grandfather at the age of 61.

The flamboyant former Sydney Swans full forward said he was ‘over the moon’ after his son Indiana informed him his long term partner is pregnant.

‘How good is that,’ the footy larrikin said. ‘Mum [ex-wife Joanne] is happy, I’m happy.

‘He [Indiana] is engaged and he’s been with his Mrs for nine years.

’61 and a grandfather, that’s alright. I’m still pretty fit and going alright.’

But Capper and his boy haven’t always been close.

In 2010, a fired-up Indiana – then aged 16 – told New Idea magazine the pair weren’t on speaking terms.

‘He can’t face the fact that he’s getting older and he just won’t grow up,’ Indiana said.

‘He can never step out of the spotlight. He’s a disgrace, with the porno [adult film] and everything else.

‘He has no respect for women at all. He thinks that impresses my mates, but they laugh at him, not with him.’

Capper kicked 388 goals over a 124-game career, finishing runner-up twice in the Coleman Medal.

The one-time Sydney Swans pin-up boy also famously booted 103 goals in the 1987 season.

After retiring from footy in 1991, Capper has had a host of jobs, including modelling, porn, becoming a DJ and politics.

In 2023, Capper gave Daily Mail Australia an exclusive tour of the Melbourne brothel he bought and renovated, claiming he was thinking of franchising the business and operating it in ‘every state’.

He went onto sell the brothel last year to pursue other interests.
