Elon Musk’s controversial tweets were likely to feature at last night’s private dinner between Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron.
The French President visited the Prime Minister at his country retreat of Chequers for a behind-closed-doors meeting.
There was no shortage of conversation for the two leaders as a French source said Mr Macron was ‘likely’ to discuss Mr Musk’s outspoken comments about British and European politics with Sir Keir during their meeting, according to the Telegraph.
Speaking ahead of the dinner, Sir Keir said of relations between the countries that it ‘was further evidence of our ability to work well together’.
He said the pair planned to discuss ‘a number of issues of concern’, including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Mr Macron said the meeting was ‘a great opportunity’ to discuss EU-UK relations and ‘the main crisis’ in Ukraine.
Earlier this week, Mr Macron all but accused Mr Musk, the tech billionaire and owner of X, of ‘directly’ intervening in elections around the world, including in Germany.

A French source said Mr Macron was ‘likely’ to discuss Elon Musk’s outspoken comments about British and European politics
Without naming him, he said in a speech on Monday: ‘Ten years ago, who could have imagined it if we had been told that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new international reactionary movement and intervene directly in elections, including in Germany.’
In response, the Space X owner accused Sir Keir of interfering in the US election after a delegation of British Labour Party members campaigned for the Democrats last year.
He tweeted: ‘Oh like that time Starmer called [Donald Trump] a racist and said the British government should do everything to stop him?
‘Or when Starmer sent British Labour Party members to campaign in the US against President Trump this year?’
US President elect Donald Trump has tasked Mr Musk with improving government efficiency when he takes office.
Meanwhile, Downing Street said the behind-closed-doors meeting would be about Ukraine, tech and AI, growth and illegal migration.
Last night, the PM told the BBC that Britain needs to ‘make sure that the other countries, whether that’s Germany, Italy, France, and many others, are working with us on this.’
