• PaddyPower may be set to dish out tens of millions of pounds on an accumulator
  • The accumulator centres on four of the first five races on Monday afternoon

PaddyPower could be forced to fork out tens of millions of pounds by a popular four-fold accumulator at Cheltenham Festival on Monday afternoon.

More than 96,000 people have backed the acca, which comes in at 6.23/1, and there are estimates that up to 250,000 punters could join the surge.

On that basis, the bookies could have to dish out gargantuan sums for one of the biggest multiples in Cheltenham history.

The accumulator centres on four of the first five races on Monday.

First up, there’s Kopek Des Bordes coming in at 8/11 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

Run over a distance of two miles and half a furlong, the eight-hurdle grade 1 race gets going at 1.20pm.

Willie Mullins has six horses declared for that one, but it’s Kopek Des Bordes among that pack who punters are throwing their weight behind after he blitzed the Dublin Racing Festival.

Then there’s Majborough at 1/2 in the Arkle Challenge Novices’ Trophy Chase at 2pm.

Majborough has been the favourite since Sir Gino was ruled out injured in February, but it has been 19 years since a five-year-old won this one, back in 2004 when Tony McCoy jockeyed Well Chief to victory.

Next up, betters are getting behind Lossiemouth at 8/11 in the fourth race of the day, the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle.

Interestingly, Lossiemouth is a late switch by Mullins for the 3.20pm race, having campaigned as a Champion Hurdle horse.

Lossiemouth won the Mares’ Hurdle with ease last year but did suffer a heavy fall in last month’s Irish Champion. Jade De Grugy and July Flower are the next favourites after her.

Finally, there’s Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle at 4pm, priced at 8/13.

As you can read in Dominic King’s detailed piece, Constitution Hill has been on an incredible journey over the past year to get ready for this race, having won the 2023 edition.

The gelding had to overcome colic, an abdominal pain that in its most severe cases can be fatal, and is being described as a ‘freak’ to be ready for this one.
