A Ryanair passenger has taken to social media to share her shock after she was charged £60 for a suitcase that seemed to fit in the airline’s sizer.

TikToker @robyntrout says she caught an €18/£15 flight with the budget airline but was then unexpectedly charged €75/£63 for her suitcase.

In her video, she accuses the airline of ‘breaking her heart on St Paddy’s day’ with the extra fee.

Robyn says: ‘Make it make f****** sense. That bag fits. Don’t tell me otherwise.’

Despite her anger, the traveller admits she paid the fee to board the flight and shares a shot of her bag on the plane with her.

She adds: ‘They charged the woman behind me as well and I felt so bad. She was literally bawling crying.’

But why was Robyn charged the extra fee even though her bag appeared to fit in the airline’s sizer?

Although the bag seems to fit inside the Ryanair sizer, the wheels appear to be just edging over the ‘Too Big’ line at the bottom.

Ryanair’s bag policy allows passengers to bring one small bag onboard for free which must fit under the seat in front of them.

Passengers can also pay for a 10kg bag to bring onboard the plane, which seems to be the category Robyn’s bag is in.

This 10kg bag must fit into the overhead locker and needs to be within the 55 x 40 x 20cm size requirements.

While it seems strict, the bag’s wheels and handles must fit within those size requirements as well.

If they don’t, passengers will be charged Ryanair’s €75/£63 oversized luggage fee.

In the comments of Robyn’s video, many passengers sympathised with the unlucky traveller.

‘Martuuljak’ wrote: ‘Ryanair keeps doing this, it’s getting ridiculous.’

‘SalF91’ said: ‘I have that exact case and have used it so many times on Ryanair… now I’m scared.’

Meanwhile ‘lottiethehottie’ shared some advice, saying: ‘Girl for the flight home don’t panic make sure your wheels are all facing inwards and it’ll give you the extra inch that it would’ve taken up.’

Over the years, many passengers have fallen foul of the budget airline’s strict baggage regulations.

Another Ryanair passenger on a flight from Dublin to London Stansted in November says she was forced to pay an extra £50 as her suitcase’s wheel was ‘sticking out of the bag-sizer’.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old grandmother recently claimed she was singled out to pay £75 for an oversized bag by Ryanair while ‘young’ and ‘good-looking’ passengers were allowed through.

And a violinist claimed she was treated like a ‘piece of garbage’ by airline staff when they told her her instrument case was 1cm too long to take on the plane.

Ryanair charged me £60 for my carry-on hand luggage even though it fit in checker… can you spot ridiculous reason why?
