Teenage boy falls 10 METRES after doing pull ups chairlift

  • A 14-year-old boy is in hospital with a broken knee after plummeting 10 metres

A teenage boy has plummeted 10 metres to the ground after doing pull-ups from a moving chairlift to impress his classmates.

The 14-year-old was riding the chairlift at Jamberoo Action Park, at Kiama on the New South Wales South Coast when he started ‘mucking around’.

As cameras rolled, the boy began performing the exercise while dangling in the air but fell when the chairlift reached a pillar.

‘He pulled the safety bar up and stood up grabbing the cable,’ a person whose brother was on the chair behind told Nine News. 

‘Dangling off the cable, he started to do pull-ups without realising [there was] an upcoming pillar.

‘My brother caught him hanging off the cable … before he hit the tower rollers and fell.’

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1:30 and the teenager was taken to Wollongong Hospital.

The boy is in a stable condition but suffered a broken knee from the fall.
