Poland’s wintery beauty captured in stunning photographs

This stunning collection of images shows the Polish mountains as you’ve never seen them before, looking hauntingly beautiful in the grip of winter.

From tiny mountain villages dripping in icicles to the enormity of a wintery night sky, mountain photographer Karol Nienartowicz spends each winter in the peaks and valleys with his camera.

He said: ‘Winter in the Polish mountains is beautiful, the world is then unreal and extraordinary.’

It certainly looks extraordinary, as abandoned buildings look like something from a sci-fi film and the trees come with a topping of creamy thick snow.

Capturing these amazing shots isn’t easy, however.

Karol Nienartowicz, who shares his mountain photography on his blog, said: ‘To photograph in the winter you have to go to the mountains at night, stand in the cold for hours, and so on. Man needs a lot of patience then.’
