Former Masters champion Vijay Singh has withdrawn from the major championship, tournament organizers announced Monday morning.

Just three days before the first major of the year, the 62-year-old informed the Masters Competition Committees that he would not be teeing it up at Augusta National this week.

Singh, who slipped into the Green Jacket back in 2000, cited injury as his reasoning for no longer being able to play the prestigious tournament. It is currently unclear what injury the golf legend is suffering from.

It will mark the first time since 1994 that the Masters field won’t feature the three-time major winner.

He now joins Tiger Woods among the 17 past champions now no longer competing in the 2025 Masters field.

Woods, a five-time Masters champion, is facing another long spell of rehabilitation after having surgery to repair his left Achilles last month.

Singh helped Woods slip into his second Green Jacket, having clinched his own the year before the 49-year-old’s second triumph.

The news of Singh’s withdrawal comes on the 25th anniversary of his win. In 2000, Singh held off Ernie Els and David Duval to emerge victorious on the hallowed grounds of Augusta National at 10-under.

In addition to his lone Masters victory, Singh also won the PGA Championship twice during his Hall of Fame career.

The Fiji native tied for 18th on Sunday at the PGA Tour Champions event in Florida, which was won by fellow former Masters champion, Angel Cabrera, who will be making his return to Augusta this week after his release from prison.

The biggest names in golf have already descended on Augusta, Georgia ahead of one of the biggest and most famous events on the sport’s calendar.

The Masters begins on Thursday with the likes of Rory McIlroy and defending champion Scottie Scheffler headlining the 95-man field – the largest since 2015 when there were 97 players in contention.
