Mitch Hibberd is known for his chiselled physique, but the reality star insists there’s no need for extreme dieting or punishing gym sessions to stay in shape.

The 28-year-old AFL player turned TV personality shared his top three fitness tips on Instagram this week – and they’re refreshingly realistic.

‘Balance is everything,’ the former Love Island Australia winner told Daily Mail Australia, adding that the biggest mistake people make is being too strict.

‘If you are super strict, you are way less likely to stick to the plan,’ Mitch explained.

‘If you can still enjoy foods you like within a flexible diet, you have a way better chance to stay on track long term.’

The Melbourne-based fitness buff, who juggles his gym routine with business and influencer commitments, also encouraged followers to find a workout style that suits their lifestyle and personality.

‘You are way more likely to stick to a plan if you are enjoying the workouts.

‘If you dread going to the gym or going for a walk, you’re most likely going to skip it,’ he explained.

‘Try heaps of different styles of training and find the one that is right for you.’

Mitch – who shot to fame on season 3 of Love Island Australia and later returned for the All Stars edition – admitted he has off days like everyone else.

‘Don’t be too hard on yourself. Being consistent is the key,’ he said.

‘So if you have an off day or miss one session, it won’t matter. Just don’t let that turn into multiple days or a week.’

And his final tip? It’s all about form over ego.

‘Focus on your muscle contractions rather than the weight you’re doing,’ Mitch said.
