Fans took to social media to express their concern after Paul Scholes appeared to be noticeably slimmer during Manchester United’s victory over Lyon.

In what has been a dismal campaign for United, European football has consistently provided supporters something to cheer about and Thursday’s clash was no different.

With the club’s last chance of taking some solace from the season seemingly slipping away, goals from Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire completed a stunning comeback in extra-time.

However, while the club now find themselves potentially just 180 minutes away from a European final, much of the discussion online was instead focused on a former player.

While conducting his usual punditry duties on TNT Sports a number of fans noticed that Paul Scholes appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight.

Famed for his incredible range of passing and tenaciousness during his playing career, a number of commenters shared their views on Scholes’ appearance on X.

The former Manchester United star returned to Old Trafford to watch a dramatic win for Ruben Amorim’s side

But fans noticed that the 50-year-old (pictured here in 2024) appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight

One wrote: S***, Paul Scholes has lost a lot of weight.’

Another added: ‘Wtf is going on with Paul Scholes? He’s lost so much weight in a short space of time.’

A third fan agreed: ‘Great win!! Mad game. On a side note, is Paul Scholes really gaunt looking ? Looks to have lost a lot of weight!’

Another fan wrote: ‘What’s happened to Paul Scholes?’

During his over two-decade career at Old Trafford Scholes made 718 appearances for United in all competitions, scoring 155 goals.

In September, the 50-year-old donned the famous red shirt once more, appearing as part of the Manchester United legends side that were defeated by Celtic, joining the likes of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov on the pitch.
