J-Lo’s ex in legal hot water after police raid cannabis farm drama

One of Jennifer Lopez’s many exes has found himself in some legal hot water involving marijuana.

This man had dated the 55-year-old actress and singer off and on for nearly five years before calling it off for good.

All these years later, this ex was charged with operating an illegal marijuana grow operation by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

Who is this mysterious JLlo ex? It’s none other than Casper Smart, 38, her former backup dancer-turned-five-year-flame.

He was handed two misdemeanor charges – one count of participating in unlicensed commercial cannabis activity and and one count of engaging in commercial cannabis activity without a temporary application license, via TMZ.

The charges stemmed from a police raid on his home in late December 2024, after police received a tip about an illegal grow operation.

During the raid, authorities found a multitude of evidence of small-to-medium-sized marijuana grow operation.

Smart did have a female visitor present at the time of the raid, though she was not cited and was said to have no connection to the grow operation.

He was not taken into custody at the time of the raid, though he was cited by officers and released at his home.

Little is known about the size of Smart’s alleged grow operation, though it was seemingly larger than legally allowed by the state of California.  

California state law allows adults 21 and older to cultivate up to six cannabis plants in or on the premises of their private residence, according to the Los Angeles County Consumer & Business Affairs.

The plants are required to be in a locked area and cannot be visible to the public, so it seems Smart had more than six marijuana plants.

Smart was previously a backup dancer for Lopez before they started dating in October 2011, just months after her separation from Marc Anthony.

They traveled the world together while they were together, with Smart opening up about their globetrotting days in a 2017 interview with Entertainment Tonight.

He said they are still ‘friends’ and they have, ‘nothing but respect and love for each other.’

‘It was tiring, but very nice, to be able to, like, travel the entire world in six months, especially with someone you’re with, and you get to enjoy together,’ he added.

Smart added in another interview that he wasn’t mature enough for the relationship, admitting, ‘I was very young and selfish.’

‘I thought I was ready for a relationship with a woman with kids and everything,’ he added of Jennifer, referring to her twins Max and Emme with her ex Marc Anthony.
