MLB umpire heard furiously cursing on hot mic after huge mistake

Major League Baseball umpire Bill Miller was caught on a hot mic angrily cursing after announcing replay results over the intercom at Fenway Park on Friday night. 

Miller was the home-plate chief for the American League showdown between the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox, needing to make a quick judgment call in the eighth inning. 

A play at the plate happened between Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers and Boston’s Jarren Duran, with Miller originally calling the Red Sox outfielder safe. 

The Twins immediately challenged the play, with replays showing Miller missed the call on the bang-bang play. 

Then came Miller announcing the reversal of his call to the Beantown faithful, to a massive chorus of boos to end the inning. 

‘F***!’ Miller said at first, following it with more explicit language a few seconds later.  ‘F***king saw that too, God dammit.’

Duran’s insurance run did not end up mattering to the result, as taking his run off the board kept the score at 6-1 in favor of the Red Sox, which was also the final score. 

Miller is a longtime MLB umpire, having began with the league in 1997 and acting as a crew chief since 2014. 

Miller also is the president of the Major League Baseball Umpires Association, having served in the role since 2019. 

The cursing shows a more human side to umpiring, as getting every call perfect is impossible. 

The foul language, knowing he messed up, with plenty of kids hearing it live in Boston is an unintended consequence with two more games to go in the series.
