Police and the force’s dog unit are hunting for an armed attacker after two men were injured in a violent stabbing in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services rushed to James Ruse Drive in Clyde, at about 3.40am following reports of a stabbing. 

On arrival, police found two men inside a Kia van suffering from injuries.

A 54-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and check, while a 36-year-old man had reportedly been punched several times. 

Paramedics treated the two men before taking them to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. 

The incident has sparked a major police investigation, while the suspects remain on the run.

Police attached to the Cumberland Police Area Command, with the assistance from the Dog Unit are actively searching the area. 

A crime scene has been established with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident underway.

The men were transporting a 28-year-old Tongan National from Villawood to Sydney Airport when the incident occurred, police said. 

 Police also released a description of the man they believe can assist with their inquiries. 

‘He’s described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with a tanned complexion, a large build, about 180cm tall with black hair, dark eyes and is unshaven,’ Police said. 

‘At the time he was wearing a black coat, black track pants and black and white sneakers.’
