An Australian company offering $100,000 a year to an adventurer to travel the world to find the best hangover cure has found their winner.

Jacki Hodge, a 28-year-old solo travel fanatic from Wollongong, was crowned Alc-eze’s Chief Hangover Officer.

The company behind a popular anti-hangover supplement will pay Ms Hodge $8,000 a month to explore Europe and Asia and sample the world’s most outrageous hangover cures.

The menu includes eating dried bull’s penis in Sicily and brandy with sparrow droppings in Budapest.

Ms Hodge will also test some local myths believed to cure hangovers, including wearing vodka-soaked socks to bed in Estonia.

Bizarre hangover hacks and urban legends will be put to the test in Sicily, Puerto Rico, Germany, Estonia, Thailand, Japan and Scotland.

Ms Hodge beat out more than 2,500 applicants around the globe for the coveted job.

‘We were looking for curiosity, creativity and a touch of chaos, and Jacki delivered on all fronts,’ said Anthony Taylor, co-founder of Alc-eze.

‘She’s a fearless traveller, a compelling storyteller, and someone who truly understands the mission: curing hangovers, naturally, and globally.’

Ms Hodge said she was ‘absolutely thrilled to take on this role’.

‘I’ve always had a passion for discovering new cultures and life hacks, and now I get to do that while representing Alc-eze and helping others ease their hangovers in the most unconventional ways,’ she said.

‘Absolutely buzzing to start this wild journey.’

The position was advertised as including a $100,000 pro-rata salary, fully paid international travel, access to parties, a year’s supply of Alc-eze and a C-Suite title.

A bonus of $20,000 is also on offer if Ms Hodge can uncover a new secret ingredient to be added to the Alc-eze hangover cure.

The average Australian has a staggering 39 hangovers a year – more than three a month – according to research from Alc-eze.

Data also found 36 per cent of Aussies admitted to going to extreme lengths to cure their hangovers, including wild food remedies and unconventional hacks.

‘We believe, without a doubt, that we have the best hangover prevention supplement on the planet,’ Ms Taylor said.

‘But to ensure we stay on top, we are always looking at ways to improve the product or even identify new products altogether.

‘So whilst bull penis for breakfast might not be the answer, we’re leaving no stone unturned.’

Ms Hodge will begin her search for the best hangover cure in Europe, followed by a stint in Asia. More destinations are to be revealed along the way.
