Dave Portnoy reveals his nine-figure net worth after making astonishing claim about his finances

Dave Portnoy admits he doesn’t know how much he’s spending on mortgage repayments for his $43million property in Nantucket after earning enough money to focus solely on ‘buying horses and gambling.’

The Barstool Sports founder and president, who estimates his net worth is somewhere in the region of $250m, opened up on his envious financial position while speaking on his company’s ‘The Unnamed Show’ podcast. 

When quizzed on how much his luxury 1.2-acre Massachusetts pad – which he purchased back in 2023 – commands in mortgage repayments, Portnoy said he is none the wiser. 

‘I have my finance guy and his only job [is] if you’re getting tight, let me know,’ he explained. ‘Other than that I’m buying horses, I’m buying houses, I’m gambling… I’m just living.’

When asked if his financial advisor has ever warned him money is ‘tight’ in the past, Portnoy said: ‘No. I don’t know how people lose [money]. Like, once you have money, you just make [more] money.’

He went on to guess that his net worth is around $250m despite not knowing for sure.

Portnoy – who founded the company back in 2003 before selling it for $551m in 2023 and before repurchasing it for just $1 six months later as part of a buyback deal – has previously discussed his unusual financial situation with his estranged wife Renee.

The 48-year-old split from his spouse back in 2017, but the two never formally got divorced.

Back in December he revealed during an appearance on the Sage Steele podcast, that he still lets Renee use his immense earnings whenever she wants.

And Portnoy says that is still very much the case now, despite his romance with new girlfriend Camryn D’Aloia, 26.  

Asked if it’s correct to say that Renee could no longer access his bank account, the American businessman clarified on The Unnamed Show: ‘No she could. It hasn’t changed. So she has [access], yeah.’

But if he remarried Portnoy admits that will have to change: ‘Then you’d have to probably make some other arrangements I would assume, yes.’

Portnoy previously explained that he and Renee ‘met when Barstool was nothing’ and that she was by his side ‘every step of the way’ during his rise to fame.

That’s why he was adamant about giving her ‘full access’ to his money when they decided to go their separate ways.
