Salim Mehajer creates ‘Christmas extravaganza’ home

Disgraced former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer has turned his controversial home into a ‘Christmas extravaganza’ for the festive season.

The 31-year-old unveiled the Lidcombe property’s dazzling array of lights on Saturday, with the elaborate design taking months of preparation.

It comes amid concerns Mehajer could face bankruptcy after he was ordered to pay a seven-figure sum for a grand marble staircase at the house.

Despite the bankruptcy threat he faces as an individual, Mehajer doesn’t appear to have let it dampen his Christmas spirit.

Taking to Instagram last week he announced his plans for the bright decorations with the support of his not for profit organisation, adding that he hopes to raise money for charity.

‘The home that suffered the most controversy, from the Big Fat Wedding, to the the false and misleading claims to the evil eye,’ he wrote.

‘It’s time to turn this home into a “Christmas Extravaganza”… come down and visit the light show.’

Mehajer added that 100 per of the proceeds received would go to charity, with the former property developer matching every donation.

‘Supported by my very own non for profit organisation which has been running for eight years now, it’s time to give back more to the community and charity,’ he wrote.

‘My religion is very simple, my religion is kindness. I look forwards to seeing the smiles on all the little one’s faces.’

The display drew dozens of people to the Lidicombe property, with many stopping by to admire the draped lights, stars and wreaths.
