Kristin Cavallari has opened up about the difficult to decision to cut a family member out of her life. 

The reality star, 38, who revealed a health scare forced he to have her ‘boobs redone,’  said she has dissolved her relationship with her dad, Dennis. 

‘I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, cutting my dad out of my life,’ she told People.

‘Such a weight has been lifted from me,’ The Hills alum told the outlet.

‘There’s not one day where I miss him. I don’t know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let’s say I was 35 [when I decided]. It was 35 years of buildup to that point.’

Cavallari, who will be returning to TV for the first time in five years with her new show, Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, said she made the decision to protect her kids, but did not go into detail. 

‘He crossed the boundary with my kids,’ the Wild Cherry actress said, adding he ‘couldn’t even apologize,’ for what he had done. 

The single mom shares sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, nine, with her ex-husband, former NFL star Jay Cutler, 42. 

‘Like, you’re just gaslighting me. I don’t have time for that anymore,’ she explained.

‘If someone’s not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it’s a parent, life’s too short.’

While appearing on Bunny Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast in December, she referred to her father as a ‘typical narcissist,’ and said she turned to drugs and alcohol to cope. 

‘The only way I found a connection was with my boyfriend. I didn’t have a connection at home,’ she explained. 

Cavallari said the break with her dad and her divorce from Cutler have made her stronger.

‘I had to get very real with myself about the lack of self-love that I had, and I had to find self-love and build myself up again, she explained.

‘I finally, for the first time in my life, do love myself. I love my life. I’ve really worked hard to cultivate this peace and this happiness.’ 

The reality star took her own podcast, Let’s Be Honest, on the road to film her new docuseries.
