Known for its breathtaking beaches and wild parties, Ibiza is one of Europe’s leading holiday destinations.

The Spanish Balearic island welcomes more than three million tourists every year.

But the island’s popularity has also led to protests from locals, a new ban on driving and soaring prices.

Luckily, there’s a cheaper alternative to Spain’s ‘White Isle’ and Brits won’t have to travel far to find it.

According to research by Airbnb, a coastal town in Montenegro is the ideal spot to enjoy Ibiza-like luxury for less.

A spokesperson says: ‘Brits are increasingly seeking vibrant fun-filled settings that offer the same bohemian charm and buzzing nightlife as Ibiza’s White Isle – but without the hefty price tag.

‘A picturesque coastal town with a Monaco-meets-Ibiza allure, Tivat offers luxury for less.

‘The multimillion-dollar makeover that saw its pier turned into a chic marina could be causing its growth in popularity.’

Tivat’s marina, Porto Montenegro, is a tourist hub with chic restaurants, bars and plenty of superyachts.

Once a naval base, the marina was transformed into one of Europe’s glitziest destinations as part of a huge development project.

A reviewer on Tripadvisor describes the port as ‘Little Monaco’ while another praises its ‘beautiful promenade’.

Away from the marina, tourists can explore the town’s Maritime Heritage Museum to learn more about the area’s coastal history.

When it comes to beaches, Plaza Ponta is one of Tivat’s best-rated spots for a sunbathe.

A tourist writes on Google Reviews: ‘Wonderful public beach. No umbrellas, sunbeds, music and other annoying amenities. Just the clear sea, wonderful views and outgoing people.’

And holidaymakers will also be ideally placed to explore some of Montenegro’s other hotspots.

Tourists will find Kotor, a seaside town with a beautiful bay, just a half an hour’s drive away from Tivat.
