Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley has made a stunning retirement admission, saying his exodus from the NFL will happen quickly and taken fans by surprise.

The admission comes out of nowhere, with no one expecting the Barkley to talk about when he wants to hang up his shoulder pads.

Yet, now his admission will be on the minds of Eagles fans for years to come.

‘I’ll probably be one of those guys that it’ll be out of nowhere. I’ll probably just wake up one day, whether it’s next year or two years or four years, and just be like, “Yeah, it’s over,”‘ Barkley said on the ‘Green Light’ podcast.

Barkley compared how he would like to leave football with one of his favorite players, all-time great running back Barry Sanders.

Sanders, in the prime of his career, retired from the NFL the day before training camp started in 1999 at age 30. Barkley turned 28 in February.

‘One of my favorite players of all time, probably my favorite player of all time, is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that. Maybe one day it’ll be out of nowhere. I’ll probably be ballin’ and just be like, yeah, call it quits.’

Barkley is coming off one of the best seasons for a running back in NFL history with 2,005 rushing yards.

Erick Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards was in serious doubt if Barkley played in Philadelphia’s final regular season game.

In his first season with the Eagles after his departure from the New York Giants, Barkley won a Super Bowl after never coming close to one with his previous team.

If Barkley follows the path of Sanders, he has two seasons left in the NFL, which is hard to imagine for one of the best in the league.
