A father in Kyrgyzstan was filmed forcefully kicking his son because the toddler was not able to stand up in the snow.

Shocking video shows the father, who has been reported by local media as 50-years-old, kicking the child across the pavement in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Both father and son are dressed in bulky winter clothes and it is presumed that the child has fallen over – it is not known whether by accident.

The child tries to stand up but keeps toppling backwards, lying on the ground as his father just stares at him.

After several attempts at getting up, the father draws back his foot and delivers a vicious kick to the toddler’s hip – the impact sends the boy’s body across the snow.

The father then drags the boy roughly to his feet and urges him to continue walking on their journey – the boy struggles to get his balance and looks like he could be injured.

Some witnesses said the toddler had been having a tantrum just before the video began.

Local media also reported that the father had been identified and arrested after the video was posted on social media. His name has not been released.

The police investigation is reported to be ongoing.
